Obituary of Naomi Baker

SPRINGFIELD — A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Grace Lutheran Church in Eugene for Naomi M. Baker of Springfield, who died Oct. 21 of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She was 75.She was born July 6, 1936, in Columbus, Neb., to Albert and Marcella Ardnt Loseke. She married Orval “Red” Baker on May 13, 1961, in Coquille.She attended Christ Lutheran School and graduated from Columbus High School in Nebraska. She attended Valparaiso University for two years and graduated from Iowa State University in 1958. She worked for the OSU Extension Service from 1958 to 1963 on the Southern Oregon coast. She worked at Stretch-and-Sew in research and development for many years. She left that position to write 11 books on sewing, and gave seminars. She worked as a Lutheran fraternal specialist for Thrivent Financial, training volunteers in Oregon, Washington and Alaska.Survivors include her husband; two sons, Todd of Springfield and Matthew of Clackamas; a daughter, Allison Baker of Eugene; two sisters, Dianne Fink of Marysville, Kan., and Stephanie Kelling of Waukesha, Wis.; a brother, Brad Loseke of Beaverton; and two grandchildren.Burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Remembrances to LIFE! Lutheran School or to the Albert and Marcella Loseke Endowment Fund at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Mo.
