Obituary of Calvin Blood

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home for Calvin Lewis Blood of Springfield, who died Oct. 27 of age-related causes. He was 86. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.He was born May 2, 1925, in Clairmont, Minn., to Wilber and Lillian Hawkins Blood. He married Garnet Posey on June 6, 1944, in Mantorville, Minn. She died June 12, 2003.He worked odd jobs when he was young, worked on a gas pipeline from Texas to Maine in the 1940s, and worked as an auto mechanic for Adam’s car dealership in Rochester, Minn. After moving to Oregon in 1965, he worked for Cone Lumber Company as a heavy equipment mechanic, then for Wildish Sand & Gravel until his retirement. After retiring, he moved to Juneau, Alaska, where he worked on automobiles and at a Motel 6 for two years. After returning to Oregon, he worked as a parking attendant at the children’s clinic in Eugene.Survivors include three sons, Douglas, Ricky and Randy; three daughters, Linda Myers, Lila Campbell and Robin Pouliut; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A son, Donald, died in 1970.Private burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the Humane Society.
