Obituary of Virginia Florece
FLORECE, Virginia (née Nacion)June 29, 1931 – July 5, 2020It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother (“Lola”), great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Virginia Florece at the age of 89. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 67 years, Justino; children: Wilfredo (Elizabeth) and Asuncion (Eduardo); grandchildren: Kristina (Wilfred), Katrina (Matthew), Camille (Anthony) and Edward; great-grandchildren: Emma, Nathan and Adrienne; great-granddogs: Penny, Lychee, Kona and Hudson; sister, Jane; as well as several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers: Silvino, Nicolas, Ernesto and Domingo; sister, Ofelia; and her parents: Hermogenes and Emilia. The matriarch and a natural nurturer, our Lola was the most generous and kind-hearted person whose faith in God never wavered. Her thoughtfulness was unbounded – she put her family above all else. Not only did she show her love through a warm smile accompanied by a sniff kiss, she expressed it through food. Everyone she met was welcomed with a delicious meal and left with a full and happy belly. Our Lola enjoyed singing, storytelling and watching her daytime soaps, along with some baseball and basketball. Though she may not always remember what the current day is, she never forgot a birthday! Our family takes comfort in knowing that our Lola is now with God as an angel in heaven watching over us. We are so blessed and thankful for the time we have spent with her and for all the wonderful memories that we will forever cherish.A private visitation will be held on July 8, 2020 at Highland Funeral Home, Markham Chapel. A private service at the funeral home and interment at Christ the King Cemetery have also been scheduled on July 9, 2020.
