Obituary of Onorina Di Risio
Onorina Di Risio, 90 years old, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of July 4, 2020 after living with dementia for many years. She was born on May 7, 1930 to Filomena Della Rocca and Angelo D’Aurizio in Miracoli, Chieti, Italy. In 1951 she eloped and married her childhood sweetheart Carlo Di Risio who preceded her in death in 2001. They were married for 50 years and immigrated to Oakville, Ontario in 1959 where they settled down and had a long, happy and comfortable life together. Onorina was the much beloved mother of Nina, Sergio, Stefanie (Sue), and proud grandmother of Eliza, Gabriella and Haeley. Being a mother and grandmother was the most important role in Onorina’s life, her love for her children was fierce. Onorina was skilled at homemaking, cooking, gardening and crochet. She loved cooking large, delicious Italian meals for friends and family alike. Sunday lunches at Onorina’s were legendary, and if you got invited to one, you never forgot it. She was also very fond of her roses and always kept a vase of clippings in the house throughout the summer. Utmost thanks and appreciation to the staff at Wyndham Manor Long-Term Care Centre for taking such good care of our beloved mum over the years. You’ll never know how much we appreciate your kindness towards all of us.
