Obituary of Ilidia Avila

Ilidia Maria Azevedo Avila passed from this life to eternal life on Tuesday June 30th, 2020 at Credit Valley Hospital after a courageous battle against colon cancer. She was born on January 15, 1958 in Terceira, Azores to Maria “Arlete” and Jose Azevedo.Ilidia married her childhood sweetheart in March of 1975 at the young age of 17. They raised two children and built a beautiful life together over their 45 years of marriage.Ilidia truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She loved cooking, gardening, sewing, spending time with her grandchildren and having a good laugh over coffee with friends and family. Ilidia will be remembered as a selfless and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend who always had a smile, even when times were tough. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her adoring husband Jose Avila; two children Marco (Cary) and Marina (Marco); and six grandchildren Claudia, Ryan, Lyanna, Soraya, Chase and Sophia.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Ilidia Avila to the SickKids Foundation.Due to the current pandemic, the family will be holding a service in our Chapel with limited numbers attending to commemorate Llidia's life.
