Obituary of Marilyn Rosetta Kerr

Marilyn Rosetta Kerr,It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn Rosetta Kerr at the age of 84, on June 29, 2020. She passed away in her home in Woodbridge, with her adoring family by her side. She was a loving wife of 60 years to Noel and a devoted mother to Jonathan with daughter-in-law, Beth, Allison and Ian.Marilyn was born in Toronto to loving parents, Walter and Mayzie Todd. She attended preschool at Fairbanks Public, then moved on to High School at York Memorial. During this time she took up piano and became classically trained under her teacher Mrs. Mumford. Marilyn went on to win many awards at various Kiwanis Festivals and other competitions. She was often sought out to play at numerous private functions. Always hanging onto her passion for piano, she went on to Women's College where she graduated Nursing with Valedictorian honors. Marilyn began her Nursing career at Toronto Western Hospital and then moved on to York Finch Hospital where she worked as a Registered Nurse and directed Staff Training and Development for 32 years.Marilyn's kind and gentle nature resonated beyond her work to whomever she met. Even through her illness, Marilyn maintained her dignity, love of family and friends. She never complained - always happiest surrounded by family during her struggles with Parkinson's and Dementia. Although we are saddened by her passing, we also celebrate her life and take solace in knowing that she died with dignity in the comfort of her home, surrounded by those who loved her most. We are eternally grateful for the love and generosity she gave us throughout her life, as a wife, mother and friend. Marilyn will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. If so desired, donations for the Parkinson's Society and Alzheimer's of Canada will be welcomed and greatly appreciated.A private family service will take place at Glendale Funeral Home.
