Obituary of Rita Spires

July 13, 1935 – June 26, 2020With family by her side, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Rita (La Force) Spires at Saint Vincent Hospital in Ottawa. A beloved friend and wife to Fred, mother to Kim, Kenny and Karen (Jason Valley), grandmother of 8 and great-grandmother of 7. Born in Almonte, ON she was the daughter of the late David and Jane La Force. Predeceased by her siblings Dorothy, Louise, Lloyd, Anna and Patrick. She bids farewell to sisters Irene and Frances and brother Wilfred. She will be deeply missed by countless nieces, nephews and dear friends. We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to Saint Vincent’s staff for their kind and compassionate care during her stay, with a very special thanks to Doctors John Sinclair and Daniel Peters whose care and expertise allowed Rita a few more precious months with her family. Due to the uncertainties of today, visitation and funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s memory may be made to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.
