Blanche Josephine Dickinson (Mitchell) 1929 - 2020Blanche, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2020 at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital at the age of 90.Blanche was the wife of deceased Major (Retired) John Robert (Bob) Dickinson for 60 wonderful years. She is survived by children David (Sheilah), Sheree (Bruce), Alan (Kelly), Darren (Carolyn), Robert and Ronald (Julia) and grandchildren Cody, Bradley, Neil and Alexandra and sister-in-law Margaret Mitchell. She was predeceased by brothers Stanley, Gordon (Ruby), Clifford (Shirley); sisters Gwen (Edward) Walton, Eileen (Gordon) Miller, Beatrice (Tom) Cox, Ella (Wilfred) Miller, Vera (Milford) Swalwell.Blanche was born to Isaac and Agnes Mitchell on July 17th, 1929 in Brandon, Manitoba; one of nine children. She lived her childhood years in the farming community of Justice, Manitoba. Blanche moved to Winnipeg to pursue a career in office administration. She met the love of her life Bob Dickinson; a pilot and WW11 veteran at the RCAF base in Portage La Prairie. They married on May 1, 1954 in Winnipeg. Bob was an RCAF flight instructor so the next hectic decade included moves to Air Force bases across Canada in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba; North Bay, Ontario and St. Bruno, Quebec locations, where all six children were born. In 1965 the family relocated back to Manitoba (Winnipeg) and in 1977 moved to the Greater Toronto Area (Mississauga and Oakville) after Bob’s Air Force retirement and new career in the printing industry.Blanche was a devoted homemaker and the heart of the family. She had a high moral character and integrity; who instilled a deep sense of right and wrong within her children and grandchildren. She had a real zest for life; whether it was working and volunteering when the children were older; traveling, cross-country skiing, being with her many friends or dancing at rock concerts. Blanche was very much loved and will be missed by many.Respecting the current situation Ontario coronavirus restrictions, the Funeral Service for Blanche will be for invited guests only. Wearing of masks, or face coverings, by everyone is mandatory during their time in the funeral home or cemetery
