Obituary of Meindert Kamstra

KAMSTRA Mike (Meindert)Mike will be dearly missed by Pamela, the love of his life and beloved wife of 43 years. A proud and devoted father to son Kyle (JoEllen) and daughter Krista Kamstra-Cooper (Kirk), Mike was also blessed to have the joy of little granddaughters Madison, Audrey and Mae in his life. Predeceased by brothers Syste (Jannie) and John (Marilyn), he will be greatly missed by his siblings Riek (Bill), Frank (Tena), Harry (Lene), Pat (Henk), Jake (Mary), Ray, Piet (Rose) and many nieces and nephews. Born December 17, 1949 in Franeker, Friesland in The Netherlands, Mike was lost to us suddenly on June 20, 2020, while in the company of friends who shared his zest for the outdoors and enthusiasm for cycling. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends as an insightful and thoughtful listener, keen observer, avid reader and lover of history, a favourite partner in conversation and most of all, a gifted designer of landscapes and gardens, which he developed into his life’s work. To spend time with Mike at home, among the gardens he lovingly created, was to know the fullness of his graceful nature. Donations in Mike’s memory to Heart & Stroke would be appreciated by the family.
