Obituary of Kathleen Harvey

Kathleen Harvey passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22nd at the age of 95, deeply loved by her family and friends. Kathleen was born in Halifax, England on August 31, 1924. Growing up during the war, she served in the Land Army. Later, she worked as a veterinarian’s assistant before emigrating to Canada in 1955. She met Alan Harvey in Niagara Falls and married two years later. Kathleen managed a busy household and developed lasting friendships with her Credit Valley neighbours of 35 years and a circle of faithful friends. She was a beautiful soul, kind and generous, a loving wife and mother, a caring friend, and her faith in God ran deep. At the age of 55 she began a new work as a Lay Pastoral Visitor at Mississauga Hospital encouraging and praying with hundreds of patients before retiring at the age of 90. Perhaps her favourite role was as a grandmother and she doted on her grandchildren. Kathleen survived her husband, Alan, as well as all of her siblings, Mary, George, Nellie and Edna. Kathleen is survived by her sons, Rob (Doreen) and Bruce, her grandchildren Alexander and Kathleen, and many nieces and nephews who will sadly miss her. The family would like to thank the many people who provided such wonderful care to Kathleen for the last few years of her life, particularly Dr. Ling Huang, the nurses from LHIN and Acclaim Health, and the staff at Parkland on the Glen. Your compassionate and professional care made a big difference and we are very thankful.
