Obituary of Vincenzo D'Aliesio

We are heartbroken to announce that Vince D’Aliesio died suddenly at home of heart failure on June 16, 2020 at the age of 80. He is lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of nearly 46 years, Bozena, his beloved children Robert (Samantha) and Renata, his precious granddaughter, Angiolina, his cherished siblings Giovanna, Giuseppe and Liberina and their families, and his many other loving relatives, including Barbara and Marek, who he saw almost every day. Vince grew up on a farm in Cassino, Italy, born during wartime. He endured many hardships in his life, including losing his father at a young age. He moved to Canada on his own in his twenties with only a few dollars in his pocket and a few words of English on his tongue. He worked tirelessly, picking up any job he could until he saved enough money to start his own business, a transport company, one of many enterprises he built from scratch. He was a man of unparalleled integrity and work ethic. His favourite saying was, “Don’t leave for tomorrow what you can do today.” He was still working six days a week until mid-March, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Family meant everything to him and beneath his tough exterior was the biggest heart. He was strong and stubborn, persevering through many challenges. He loved to spend time in his garden, or “the farm” as we called it, growing all sorts of fruits and vegetables and fighting off fruit-stealing squirrels and pesky Japanese beetles. He is an unforgettable spirit and will be in our hearts forever. Due to pandemic restrictions, we are holding a private funeral followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery in Woodbridge on Thursday, June 25. You may leave condolences on this website. If you wish to send flowers, please send potted plants to Scott Funeral Home in Woodbridge. We will plant them in his garden, where he was always smiling.
