Yoko McClainA private family inurnment will be held for Yoko Matsuoka McClain of Eugene, who died Nov. 2 of a hemorrhagic stroke. She was 87.She was born Jan. 1, 1924, in Tokyo to Yuturu and Fudeko Natsume Matsuoka. She married George Robert McClain on Dec. 22, 1956, in Eugene. He died in 1990.She was a 1944 graduate of Tsuda College in Japan, and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Oregon. She was a UO professor of Japanese and literature from 1964 to 1994, and wrote 12 books and numerous articles in Japanese and English.Survivors include a son, Ken of Eugene; a sister, Mariko Hando of Toyko; and one grandchild.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary of Eugene.
