Obituary of Antonio Monaco
On Saturday, June 13, 2020, Antonio (Tony) Perry Monaco, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 at his home in Mississauga, with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Daphne (Parsons); his son Perry, his wife Christy and their children Grace, Holly and Charlie; his son Anthony and his wife Tegan and their children Logan and Sloane. Tony is also survived by his sister, Pieria and her husband Pasquale Mariani and his two nieces, Lucia and Cristina. Tony was born on January 8th, 1939 to Crocifissa (Ferlito) and Antonino Monaco in the village of Vita in Sicily, Italy. He arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax aboard the Conte Biancamano on November 29, 1955. He met the love of his life at a YMCA dance and their first date was at Fran’s Restaurant at Yonge and College in Toronto. Tony was proud to have been a part of the fabrication of the Dash 8 aircraft at De Havilland as an upholsterer before joining Goodwill. In 1987 he opened Daphne’s Place in Campbellville, where he continued to work until just before his passing. He was a successful entrepreneur and a master craftsman. When not at the shop, you could find Tony riding one of his motorcycles along the countryside, camping with his boys in the summer, cooking a master chef creation on the BBQ, tending to herbs and flowers in the garden, dining with his bride at Pasqualino in Milton or playing with his grandchildren.
