Obituary of Mary Eleanor Symons

Symons, Mary EleanorMarch 31st 1927 – June 5th 2020 Mary Eleanor Symons (nee Wells) passed away peacefully after 93 wonderful years. She was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother.Mary Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, David Coffey Symons. Her love of words, puzzle solving and sewing traditions will be carried on by her daughters, Alexandra O’Connor (Richard), Elizabeth O’Dwyer (Michael) and Catherine Mullin.She also leaves behind her five remarkable grandchildren Chris (Amy), Shannon, Michael, William and Steven.Mary Eleanor was an avid traveler with her beloved David and enjoyed their sojourns to many Scottish Country Dancing festivals. She was an active member of the Stitch and Bitch social club where the sounds of laughter and the clicking of knitting needles resonated whenever they met.Mew had a special fondness for her four legged companions and she would have one snuggled at her side when knitting, reading, playing solitaire or while enjoying a glass of sherry at 5pm!Thank you to the caring and dedicated staff on 7 West at the Ottawa General Hospital.A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
