Obituary of Saturnino Cunanan

Cunanan, Saturnino(Art) age 67, passed away at home on June 3, 2020. He had been recovering from quintuple bypass surgery and thyroid complications. Very sadly this complex surgery turned out to be too much for dad, and he passed away peacefully early in the morning at his home in Brampton, Canada. Art is survived by a large loving family around the world, most notably his third wife Maria Theresa Cunanan and second ex-wife Myrna Cunanan; sisters Bernadette, Mel, Dory, Vina, brother Gerly, and Rey; his eleven children: Theresa, Ronaldo, Nino, Michael, Ryan, Sophia, John, Madel, Maryanne, Kayla, and Tara; his eleven grand children: Threston, Thomas, Shlayane, Marcus, Anthony, Miguel, Mark, Maya, Mason, Jasmin, and Jenzelle. He is an accounting graduate from the University of the East in Manila and remained in the Philippines until 1986. During the early to mid 1980s, Art became involved in what was known as the EDSA revolution in the Philippines and played a key role in organizing the peaceful demonstrations that led to the end of Ferdinand Marcos’s dictatorship. This became one of Art’s most profound legacies.When he wasn’t too occupied overthrowing governments, Art spent his early career working at Kodak Philippines with first wife Teresita, followed by many business ventures during his time in Toronto, Canada. He had a life-long love affair with horse racing and enjoyed gardening. He excelled at growing and harvesting multiple vegetables from his back yard, outsmarting squirrels, and never missing a game of horse racing during the season. Art will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a loving father, who has impacted and changed the course of life for those who were privileged to know him.
