Antonietta Luigia PanettaAugust 9, 1934 – May 18, 2020It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Antonietta Panetta, beloved wife of Gennaro, loving mother to Josey (Elvin Rawlins, deceased), Sergio (Carolin) and Maria (Frank Rondinone) and adoring nonna to Giancarlo (Melissa), Giuliana, Amanda and Michael.Antonietta passed away at home surrounded by her husband and children and their spouses. She was three days shy of her 65th wedding anniversary. Antonietta devoted herself to her family, enjoyed tending her gardens at her former home and loved to bake and cook home-made meals for family and friends.Antonietta was born is Pescosolido, Frosinone, Italy and came to Canada as a 17-year-old. She immediately started working and this became her mission – to contribute to the well-being of her family, initially her late father, Rocco, and siblings Luigi (deceased) and Serafino, and eventually her own family. Through her strong work ethic and sheer will, she contributed to the success of her children and their families.Antonietta was happiest when her children and grandchildren were with her, sharing meals and special occasions. She also showed a great deal of interest in the younger members of the extended family asking their parents if they were home from school, or the latest news on their education. In addition to her own children, Antonietta was a second mother to Antonio and Francesco and José Manuel of Columbia.Antonietta will be remembered for her generosity, kind heart and culinary skills, including baking. She was able to whip up meals for anyone who dropped by and made the best ciamelle, crespelle and fritelle, sharing her baking skills with the next generation of family members. She also had a mischievous streak and enjoyed telling or playing practical jokes on her children. And on occasion, she relished a good gin and tonic or glass of wine.In addition to her brother Serafino (Teresa), Antonietta leaves behind a sister, Anna (Elauterio), brother-in-law Paolo (Stella), and sisters-in-law Maria, Giacomina (Mario), Suora Eugenia and Angela, in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins.
