Obituary of George Osakwe

George Ikechukwu Osakwe was born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad on January 21, 1963 to George Umunna Osakwe and Olive Veronica Linda Osakwe (nee Smith). He was the second child in a family of five children. George attended St. Gregory’s College, a catholic missionary secondary school for boys in Ikoyi, Lagos, and Federal Government College Port Harcourt for his A-levels. He then went on to the University of Buckingham, graduating in 1987 with an LLB in law. After graduation, George ran his own import-export business in Lagos before moving to Canada with his wife and kids in 1998. Once in Canada, George obtained his LLM in law from the University of Ottawa and has worked as a human rights lawyer in Ottawa since then.George was a devoted father an avid fan of formula one racing. He is survived by his mother; his wife, Sandra-Jean Bola his children, George (Jnr) and Gerrard; and his brothers Carlton-James, Gregory, and Chester. He is predeceased by his sister, Yvette. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
