Obituary of Dixie Lee Maurer-Clemons Wilcox
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Eugene for Dixie Lee Maurer-Clemons Wilcox of Eugene, who died November 18, of cancer. She was 66. Dixie was born November 30, 1944, in Macon, Missouri to Robert and Audrey (Jenkins) Kisor. She married Richard Wilcox on May 15, 2010, in Eugene. Dixie was a 1962 graduate of South Eugene High School. She attended Antioch College in Yellowsprings, Ohio, where she graduated in 1967. Dixie also earned two graduate degrees from the University of Oregon. Dixie worked for 30 years at Lane Community College, first in the science department, then in the Cooperative Education Department. Most recently she worked as a coordinator for education majors. Survivors include her husband, Richard Wilcox of Eugene; her son, Lionel Clemons, his wife, Annamaria, and their two sons, Anthony and Lucas of Eugene; three sisters, Roxie Cuellar of Yachats, Sally Penna of Monmouth, and Frederica Merrell of Seattle; and a brother, John Merrell, of Snohomish, Washington.
