Obituary of Rian Gregory Tooth
The Tooth family is saddened to announce the passing of Rian Gregory Tooth on Thursday May 7, 2020 in Toronto at the age of 58. Rian was beloved by his partner Sharon Bleeks and her children Shelby and Jack. He was a devoted brother to Darrin (Khor Balsara) and Kerry (Rob Neish) and his nieces Zara Bottriell (Ryan), Emma, Aidan and Justine Tooth and Robin Neish and his nephew Oliver Neish. Rian is predeceased by his Father Clifford Tooth and Mother Shirley June (nee Roach).Growing up, Rian’s family was very active, skiing in the winter and exploring Georgian Bay and Muskoka at various resorts and cottages in the summers. His love of travel was fostered by the many Tooth family vacations south including; Florida, Myrtle Beach, Mexico and Hawaii to take a break from winter. His love for the outdoors and Georgian Bay began at a young age when he and his brother Darrin would spend many summers as canoe trippers at camps Norval and Pinecrest. His sense of adventure was also fuelled on a YMCA canoe trip to Quetico Provincial Park in Quebec, an extensive trip through the Moon River with his brother Darrin and a ski trip to Austria. The exposure to the beauty of the Ontario lakes inspired his passion for boating. He was the first in the family to own a boat that the entire family enjoyed. He is fondly remembered by his nieces and nephew whom he would take boating to the Toronto Islands on wonderful family picnics. He would also take the family on excursions to the Toronto Harbour for summer firework displays and air shows, made special by watching from his boat. Rian was particularly fond of the Scarborough Bluffs and Lake Ontario, frequently ending a summer day by cruising around the Toronto Islands.Rian's interest in cars was apparent at young age and he earned enough money as a teenager working his paper route to buy his first car. He probably didn’t realise this made him chauffeur for his younger sister Kerry. This passion for cars became a vocation leading to a successful career in the car business. He also followed his father’s footsteps and practiced residential Real Estate in Toronto for many years.Rian loved to be on the water, especially in warmer climates. He and Sharon enjoyed many adventures to sunny tropical locations including the Caribbean, West Indies and Mexico. Upon their arrival to their sun destinations, he would need assurance that they would have a view of the sunrise from their balcony. Sharon learned not to fully unpack until Rian was completely satisfied with the room.Rian was a gentle giant, who was dependable, easy going and fun loving. He will be remembered for his generosity of spirit, kindness and love of life. Rian will be deeply missed by his friends and family. A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at Scarborough General Hospital.
