Obituary of Jessie Mitchell
Jessie (Parma) Mitchell fell asleep peacefully with all her family by her side at home in Scarborough, Ontario on Saturday May 9, 2020 at the age of 77. Jessie was the beloved wife of Chandrasane Bose Mitchell for 51 years, dearly cherished and devoted mother of Allyson and Michael Cosgrove of Toronto and Lyndon and Ella Mitchell of Pickering, Ontario. She was the beloved grandmother of Noah, Rachel, Nathan, Rebecca, Jacob and Kieran.Jessie was born in New Grant, Trinidad W.I. and was the wonderful daughter of the late Seuram and Rosanna (Francis) Parma. She is survived by her beloved sisters Rita (Babes) Parma and Babsie (Tootsie) Lochan (Timothy). She was also the devoted sister to the late Boysie Parma, the late Beryl Parma-Smith (Russell), the late Harold Parma (Monica), the late Dulcina (Doy) Sookdeo (late Parsan), the late Lilian Parma, the late Sylvia Raggobar (late Balroop) and the late Ciceline Parma.Beloved sister-in-law to Joy Ramjattan (late Bridgelal), the late MackDonald Mitchell (Jean), the late Annie Juliet Jimdar (late David), the late McCabe Mitchell (late Anna), the late Debindra Mitchell (Peggie Lofthouse) and Ralph Mitchell (Charlene).Always in her thoughts, were her nieces, nephews and their families, as well as those who adopted her as their mom and grandma. Our beloved Jessie grew up loving God and His Word in her church in Iere Village, Trinidad. Over the past thirty-five years Jessie faithfully attended household fellowships with The Way Ministry for spiritual nurture and growth and is now awaiting the return of our lord and savior Jesus Christ. In April 1988, this Mitchell family of four left the comforts of home and family in Trinidad and started a new life when they migrated to Canada. When asked why they made this move she always said, “So her children could have more opportunities in life.”Many can attest to the fact that Jessie was always given to hospitality and there was no such thing as a 15-minute visit at the Mitchell’s home. She had a passion for storytelling and was talented in other areas such as sewing, crocheting, crafting, embroidery and puzzles. She was also a very loyal fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and when the game was on, no one was permitted to change the channel. She loved music and her room was always filled with the sound of her favorite artists like Elvis Presley, Jim Reeves, Allan Jackson, George Beverly Shea and Way Productions (most especially Mike Martin). The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at The Scarborough Health Network - General Hospital for all the love and care that was given to her over these last years.Due to this unique time, a celebration of Jessie’s life will be scheduled for a later date. Donations can be made on Jessie’s behalf to Diabetes Canada and the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
