George MayerA memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Eugene for George “Rusty” Mayer of Eugene, who died Nov. 21 of age-related causes. He was 88.He was born May 28, 1923, in San Francisco to George and Margaret Klotz Mayer. He married Virginia “Ginger” Geddes in September 1947 in Milwaukee, Wis. They later divorced, and she died in 2002. He married Beverly Jones in 1980 in Coos Bay. They later divorced.He graduated from Burlingame High School in 1941 and graduated from the University of Oregon School of Architecture. He served in the U.S. Air Force from January 1942 to November 1945 and served in the South Pacific theater for 31 months during World War II. He worked for Balzhiser, Sedar and Rhodes Architects before founding George Mayer Building Design. He operated that business for 41 years.Survivors include two sons, Kevan of Richmond, Vt., and Kent of Port Angeles, Wash.; a sister, Joan Leavitt Mclure of Dallas, Texas; and a brother, Doug “Budd” Odell of Westport, Conn.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
