Obituary of Roy Newman

Roy NewmanSPRINGFIELD — A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Springfield Elks Lodge No. 2145 for Roy B. Newman of Springfield, who died Dec. 6 of cancer. He was 84.He was born April 21, 1927, in Eugene to Jutta and George Newman. He married Gertrude Kinyon on July 7, 1950, in Eugene.He attended Linfield College for two years. He served in the Navy. He worked as planing mill foreman at Weyerhaeuser Co. for 30 years.Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary of Olympia, and Kenneth of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
