Obituary of Shirley Gordon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, Shirley, on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at age 87. She is reunited with Marty, her beloved husband of 60 years (2014). Lovingly remembered by daughter Sharon (Laszlo), sons, Steve (Rhonda), Scott, and grandchildren, Tyler, Thomas, Michael, and John, of whom she was so proud. Dear sister to Calvin and his late wife Anne, sister-in-law to Wally (Joyce) and cousin Sue (Dave). Will be missed by nieces, nephews and friends. Shirley was an amazing mother, and grandmother. She made us feel so loved, always ready to lend a helping hand, there to support you when needed or being a friend. She brought a cheer to everyone around with her quick sense of humour. She will be dearly missed by her family. Shirley was born in Montreal (Verdun) to loving parents, the late Cecelia and Alex. Throughout her life, Shirley was an avid reader, skier, and golfer. She especially enjoyed playing bridge with friends. She was a member of several bridge, book, and Golf & Country Clubs while living in Barrie, Oakville, and Rosemere (QC). Shirley and Marty enjoyed travelling to various exciting parts of the world and lived in Saudi Arabia and Nepal for a brief time. She developed close friendships while there and kept in touch after returning to Canada. Shirley and Marty spent many beautiful days of cottage life together and with family and friends at their little corner of Muskoka paradise on Long’s Lake (Utterson). Cremation has taken place with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders. www.doctorswithoutborders.ca
