Obituary of Jess Cabrias
Mr. Jess CabriasJune 8, 1944 - May 3, 2020It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our father Jess Cabrias on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at the age of 75. Dad fought hard through all his health complications, and many times we joked that he had more than 9 lives! But in the end, God had other plans for him and the pain and suffering is now over and Dad can be at peace. Dad was a loving and caring husband of 52 years to our mother, May Cabrias. An amazing father and disciplinarian to his children- Mitch (Nicole), Jennifer (Gary), Mirco (Trish) and Jema (Mic). A doting “Popsie” to his grandchildren- Keera, Chelsea, Ashlea, David, Charlotte, Makayla and Leonora. A caring brother to his siblings Ging, Tessie and Thomas Jr. and brother-in-law to Joi. Throughout his life, Dad’s only priority was his family and nothing else. He was fair, highly-principled and a man of integrity. He instilled so many values in us that we hope to carry on for the rest of our lives. The sacrifices he made for us only made us stronger, appreciate what we have and become better people. A family man to the end and his legacy will live on.We would like to thank our families and friends for all their love and support through all these years dealing with our Dad’s medical issues. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at North York General for taking care of my father until the end.“The hours fade, the moments fly and time never stands still. We now look into the pool of memories and in these few moments of quiet meditation, pause awhile and give some thoughts to the things we did and did not do, and hope that in the morrow we shall improve upon today”. – Unknown (P.S. my dad always ended his radio program with this quote)We love you Dad and we will miss you! Until we meet again. April 7, 2020 – This directive adds a greater limitation on the number of people who can be at funeral homes, not counting funeral home staff. The new maximum number of people who can be at a funeral home at one time is 10 or fewer. This pertains to the entire funeral home.My March 28 directive had placed the limit at 10 at each funeral or visitation. We now must make this more stringent in order to protect families and funeral home staff. Remember, if only one of your staff members comes down with COVID-19, your funeral home could be closed for two weeks or longer. We need you all open during this very hard time. The funeral home must be large enough for people to maintain physical distancing of at least two metres (six feet) apart from each other at all times, to a maximum of 10 people — in the entire funeral home establishment at one time.Even if you have unlimited space, or are outside, the maximum is 10. The number does not include funeral home staff.Focus on accommodating as few people as possible. The goal is safety for all families and all funeral home staff. Note, that if you advertise a funeral, visitation or gathering in any medium you must state this limitation or link to this directive.Follow this law strictly.Thank you all for the professional and caring work you do for Ontario families every day.Stay vigilant. We are ready…together with you to provide the best, safe bereavement services to Ontario families. This directive is made pursuant to an Emergency Order under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.-Carey Smith, CEO/Registrar, BAOhttps://mailchi.mp/20eff0aa3ef8/registrars-directive-10-max-in-the-entire-funeral-home-at-one-time?e=ad6dc26ec0
