Obituary of Albert Stewart

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Albert (Jock) “MacDonald” Stewart of St. Albert, Ontario.Piper and soldier, born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1927, son of piper Herbert MacDonald Stewart and Annie Cruikshank. He was Pipe Major of the Bulawa Pipe Band (Southern Rhodesia), Zimbabwe and Pipe Major and co-founder of the Bermuda Pipe Band before settling in Canada to a new life.He is predeceased by his late wife Catherine Doris Whittle and survived by his present wife Céline Allard. He is also predeceased by his stepchildren Chantal and Stéphane Dubeau and leaves behind his sister-in-law Monique Lévesque (Denis), his brother-in-law Jean-Pierre Allard (Cathy), his grand-children Nicholas Tilley (Tina), Myriam Pilon, Sophie Pilon, Robynne Simard (Daniel) and Katherine Dubeau and five great-grand-children. He will be missed by the special friends who were a constant presence in his life and who provided continuous support over the years, more specifically Ken and Amy Garson, Rock Landry and John Yourt. A celebration of his life will be conducted later when the confinement restrictions allow for gatherings. C’est avec regret que nous vous annonçons le décès d’Albert (Jock) « Macdonald » Stewart de St-Albert, Ontario.Né à Aberdeen, Écosse en 1927, fils du cornemuseur Herbert MacDonald Stewart and Annie Cruikshank, il a été le Cornemuseur principal du Bulawa Pipe Band au Zimbabwe et co-fondateur du Bermuda Pipe Band avant de s’établir au Canada pour y vivre de nouveaux défis. Il fut prédécédé par sa première épouse Catherine Doris Whittle et laisse dans le deuil son épouse Céline Allard. Il fut aussi prédécédé par ses beaux-enfants Chantal et Stéphane Dubeau et laisse dans le deuil sa belle-sœur Monique Lévesque (Denis), son beau-frère Jean-Pierre Allard (Cathy), ses petits-enfants Nicholas Tilley (Tina), Myriam Pilon, Sophie Pilon, Robynne Simard (Daniel), Katherine Dubeau ainsi que cinq arrière-petits-enfants. Il laisse aussi un vide important dans le cœur d’amis qui ont offert une présence constante dans sa vie et qui l’ont supporté au fil du temps, plus spécifiquement Ken et Amy Garson, Rock Landry et John Yourt. Une célébration de sa vie aura lieu à une date ultérieure lorsque les restrictions de confinement seront suffisamment allégées.
