Obituary of Chandrakanta Pranlal
It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce that our dear mom and grandmother Chandrakanta Pranlal Motee passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of 28th April 2020 in Ottawa. She was born on 20th September 1937 to Girdharlal and Saraswati Damania in Mumbai, India. She married Pranlal Motee on 18th May 1955 and had three children - Zaver, Rajesh and Hema. She emigrated to Toronto in 1990 and made Canada her new home. She lost her husband in 2015 and gradually her health took a turn for the worse. She suffered a stroke on 22 April and was admitted to The Ottawa Hospital. We remember mom as a simple and hardworking figure of quite strength and a generous nature. She never waned in her love and support of her immediate and extended family and who soldiered on, even when times were tough. We will always remember her for her unwavering love and for standing behind us no matter what. She will be remembered by many for her quick, ready smile and for all the delicious meals that she cooked over the years and shared not only with families and friends but also casual acquaintances. We would like to dedicate this poem by Helen Steiner Rice to our mom:A mother’s love is something that no one can explain,It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain..It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what mayFor nothing can destroy it or take that love away….It is patient and forgiving, when all others are forsaking,And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking..It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns,And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems….It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation,And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation…A many splendoured miracle man cannot understandAnd another wondrous evidence of God’s tender guiding hand.
