Obituary of Ruth Sherwood

Ruth Sherwood [nee Gourlie]Ruth passed away peacefully at the age of 94 surrounded by the love of her daughter and her family. Ruth was truly cherished and will always hold a very special place in our hearts. She was a treasure beyond measure to Terri and her family. Ruth is also dearly remembered by her son Rob and his family.Ruth was beloved wife of the late Stan Sherwood, treasured mother to son Rob and daughter Terri. Ruth has six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Ruth was a beloved daughter of Marge {nee Thompson} and Fred Gourlie, much loved sister to Joy and brothers, the late Harold, Jim, John and Bob. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, Ruth was considered a friend to many and loved by all who knew her. Ruth was very involved with her community. Ruth enjoyed being involved with people and being part of something that helped others. Ruth was part of the Scarborough Bluffers Club, West Scarborough Seniors Club, painting group at Knox United church and the Women’s Institute. People enjoyed Ruth’s kindness, optimism and open mindedness in her volunteer and leadership roles in her community. Ruth was a talented artist who enjoyed painting folk art and worked with oil and acrylic paints. Ruth loved working with water colours. Ruth loved playing euchre, bid euchre, bingo and enjoyed carpet bowling with friends at West Scarborough Seniors Club.Special thanks are sent to the care giving team and all support staff at Parkview Seniors Home in Stouffville.
