Obituary of Marie Margaret Wren

Marie Margaret WrenJuly 22, 1934 – April 26, 2020Marie Margaret Wren (nee Rozek), 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2020.Marie grew up in Wilno, Ontario. After high school, she attended St. Michael’s School of Nursing in Toronto. She married Henry (Hank) in 1958; they were together for 31 years until his passing in 1989. Marie pursued her vocation as a registered nurse for several years. She then took care of her family full time when the children were young. She volunteered with many of the kids’ activities, especially with the Girl Guides, Martingrove Ringette Association, and high school parent guilds. Marie re-entered the workplace as a business manager, with several medical practices under her wing over the remainder of her career. She loved to play Scrabble, Cribbage, and Rummy, and enjoyed countless evenings at the cottage on Chandos Lake sharing her passion with the family. She enjoyed playing the harmonica, and often had a crossword or sudoku puzzle on the go.Marie is survived by her children Deborah (Jeffrey), David (Sandra), Jennifer (Murray), and Susanne (Dennis); grandchildren Heather (Raymond), Taschina, Makayla, Jacob, and Tanner; and many nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart. Marie is the last of the Rozek elders to leave us. She is predeceased by her husband Hank; son-in-law Mark; parents Julia and Frank; brothers Frank, Phillip, Thomas, John, Joseph, and Edward; and sisters Edna, Monica (June), Stella, Julia (Judy), Anna (Anne), and Leona.A gathering to honour Marie’s life will be held at a later date due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Westbury Home (West Mall) for the compassionate care Marie received during her stay.
