Obituary of Elaine Giacobbi

GIACOBBI, Elaine Aline (nee Lapensée) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on April 22, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 56.Elaine was born on June 11, 1963 in Ottawa to her parents Claire (Beauchamp) and André Lapensée. She lived her whole life in Ottawa, completing high school at École Secondaire Samuel de Champlain and earned her diploma in administration at Algonquin College. She left home at 19 for a career in the Federal Government. During her time there, Elaine was also the co-owner of the Unicentre at L’Esplanade Laurier and worked part-time alongside her soon-to-be husband, Denis. She then married the love of her life Denis Giacobbi on May 12, 1990. Always passionate about fitness, Elaine left the Federal Government in order to pursue her passion in the local health and wellness industry. To begin this new chapter, Elaine earned two black belts in Shodan Karate, and co-founded a dojo called Esteam Family Fitness & Martial Arts. As she further explored her passion for fitness, Elaine became certified in personal training, group fitness and yoga. She enjoyed spending plenty of time with her friends and family entertaining them all in her beautiful waterfront home.On January 7, 2017, after months of excruciating pain and confusion, Elaine was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow.
