Obituary of Gary George Cottenden
Gary Cottenden passed away peacefully on Saturday April 18, 2020Loving husband to Lynda, cherished Father to Nancy and proud Grampa to Katelyn. Predeceased by his Father, William and his mother, Gertrude. Gary was a retired employee of The Workers Compensation Board, a member of the Toronto Signals Band, a Mason and a Shriner. Over the span of many years, he was involved with numerous minor league and competitive hockey teams. He spent some of his retirement years working as a Hall Monitor at Malvern Collegiate Institute and Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute and nicknamed “Sparky”. Gary’s passion was hockey, but he loved golf games with Nancy. He will be fondly remembered and missed by Daniel Barry, Diane and Mark Freeman and their family, all the members of St. Nicholas Birch Cliff and Christ Church Coboconk Anglican Churches and countless others whose paths crossed with Gary’s along the way A resident at Chester Village once remarked that “he is a humble man” and that he was. A private family service will take place and we will have a celebration of Gary’s life once our Church is open again. Many thanks to Dr. Birmingham and the wonderful staff at Chester Village who took such good care of Gary for the last two years. Too many to mention here, you know who you are. Also, to the staff in the Day Program at Providence Health Centre. God Bless You All.
