Obituary of Dennis Campbell McLachlan
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis McLachlan, cherished husband, father, grandfather and brother. Dennis passed peacefully at the Dorothy Ley Hospice on April 2, 2020 after a courageous 4 year fight against prostate cancer. Dennis was a devoted husband of 55 years to Jeannie, loving father to Greg and his wife Deborah, Christine and her husband Ken, Laurie and her husband Bert. He was also a very involved grandfather to Miles and Maeve, Cooper and Charley, and Bertie, Jake and Luke. He is also remembered by his brother Dave, sister-in-law Marge and their children Davie, Barb and Allison. Born and raised in Sudbury, schooled at Brigham Young University in Utah, Dennis' career took him to Hamilton, Kitchener and Sault Ste. Marie before he and his young family settled in Toronto. He rose the corporate ranks at Texaco Canada/Imperial Oil and spent the last half of his career as their Executive Marketing Head. He was fortunate enough to retire at age 52 and shortly after, Dennis and Jeannie moved to Midland Ontario where they enjoyed many years featuring lots of golf and hosting regular family gatherings. An avid sports fan and athlete, Dennis loved to play golf and hockey, doing both well into his 70's. If he wasn't playing himself he was attending his grandkid's games or watching football, hockey or baseball on TV. Special thanks for the wonderful care he received at Princess Margaret and Dorothy Ley. In particular, Dr. Fleshner, Dr. Sridhar, Dr. Saltman, Dr. Haq, Valery and Joni. Thank you to all of the caregivers who made it possible for Dennis to remain at home for so long. To honour Dennis' wishes, a private service for his family will be held later in the year to celebrate his life. Donations to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Dorothy Ley Hospice would be welcomed and appreciated. Expressions of sympathy and favourite memories may be shared in the Guestbook. We thank you for your kind words of comfort throughout this difficult time.
