Obituary of Mary Ann McBane

MCBANE, Mary Ann (nee Gillissie)On Friday, April 10, 2020, Mary Ann McBane passed peacefully at the Ottawa Heart Institute. Mary Ann was a caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she was known for hosting great parties with lots of food and laughter. Although we will miss her greatly, we take comfort that she will be reunited with the love of her life, her late husband Patrick John. She was predeceased by her parents Cecil James and Mary Marcia Estelle Gillissie, her brothers John and Fr Michael Gillissie. She leaves behind her loving children: Jennifer (Basil MacKay); Patrick (Tahlia); Julie (Rob Greene); and Joanne (Dan Mustard). She was a proud Nana of nine grandchildren: Jacob & Taylor MacKay; Amelia, Owen, & Parker McBane; Patrick & Addison Greene; and George & Kennedy Mustard. She is survived by her brothers: James (Jos); Patrick (Julia); and Paul (Romi). She was a treasured sister-in-law to: Jean Kennedy (Donald), Ellard (Opal), Elaine (Ralph Stahan), Eileen (William Country), Ghislaine and Janet. She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Leo, Sister Rita McBane, Mary Hobbs (late Joe Hobbs), and Winston. She will be dearly missed by Andrew and Daniel MacKay plus many nieces, nephews, extended family and many lifelong friends. Special thanks to the staff at the Queensway Carleton and ICCU staff at the Ottawa Heart Institute for their exceptional care and compassion. A funeral mass and celebration of life will be held at a later date when family and friends are able to gather.
