Obituary of William John Pollock
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved William on Tuesday April 7, 2020 at the age of 70 years surrounded by his loving family. William is now re-united with his loving parents Elsie Pollock (nee McDonald) and John. He was the cherished husband of Sheila Pollock (nee Robertson). William was the loving father of Laura Vanderlek-McCabe (nee Pollock) and her husband Richard McCabe, Tara McLean (nee Pollock) and her husband Dan McLean, and Jennifer Pollock and her partner Aleth Bruce. He was the devoted grandfather of Bryanna Vanderlek, Emily McLean, Justin McLean, and Brayden McCabe. The admired brother of Sandra Mountain (nee Pollock) and her husband Doug Mountain, Doug Pollock and his wife Rosemary Pollock, and brother-in-law of Hugh Robertson (predeceased) and his wife Evelyn Robertson. Dear Uncle of Shannon, Stephanie, Patricia, John, Jeff, and Katherine. William will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all his family and friends throughout Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. The family will be forever grateful for the support and care provided by his doctors, nurses, and personal support workers, all of whom were dedicated to making his final days at home as pain free as possible. William had a passion for education and road safety. He was a retired Peel Board science teacher as well as an alumnus of the University of Toronto and the University of Guelph. He was a Master Driving Instructor and a lifelong professional in traffic safety and driver training. William was passionate about the driver education industry, road safety, schools, and helping others in their pursuit of driver’s education. He authored Ontario’s most popular MTO approved beginner driver education curriculum. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of William to The Canadian Cancer Society or The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.Words of comfort, shared stories, photos, and memorial donations may be left for the family using the links above.In light of the current global pandemic with the present restrictions placed on group gatherings and the well-being of everyone, the family has decided there will be no formal funeral at this time. A Celebration of William’s life will be held at a later date. Your condolences are very much appreciated during this very difficult time.
