Obituary of Mario Martella

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mario Raffaele Martella, 70, on April 4th, 2020, in his home with his wife and three children by his side, after a long battle with cancer.Much loved son of Paresina Martella, and the late Orlando Martella. Dear brother of Yolanda (Angelo Bellocchi) and the late Maria. Loving and devoted husband of 43 years to Cesira (Testa) and proud and supportive father of Chris, Linda (Tarigh Afrand) and Robert (Jade Albota). He will be greatly missed by his brothers-in-law, sisters- in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and his many dear, lifelong friends, all of whom he cherished deeply.Mario was an avid sportsman, who competed with gusto at every opportunity. He found peace in his garden, watching birds in his backyard, and reveling in good homemade food. He was at his best when he was outdoors, in nature, and could often be seen driving through Manotick with a coffee and apple fritter in hand, stopping into local shops where he knew everyone by name.He lived a simple, peaceful life and found great joy in being surrounded by those he loved. Family dinners and events without him will never be the same. His family wishes to express their deep appreciation to all the PSW’s, nurses and doctors who helped Mario over the years – we cannot express how much their kindness and compassion meant to us all.A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date at Capital Funeral Home and Cemetery for family and friends to attend so that he may be surrounded by those he loved so dearly. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society and Alzheimer Society of Canada.
