Obituary of Susan Anderson

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Springfield Memorial Gardens Funeral Home for Susan Guion Anderson of Springfield, who died Dec. 24 of cancer-related causes. She was 44.She was born Dec. 28, 1966, in Lubbock, Texas, to William and Freda Thompson Guion. She married Gary Anderson on June 27, 2009, in Walterville.She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz and master’s and doctor’s degrees from the University of Texas, Austin. She was an associate professor of linguistics at the University of Oregon and just had been promoted to full professor a few days before her death.Survivors include her husband; her parents, of San Antonio ; a grandmother, Mary Louise Guion of South Carolina; two sons, Augustus Loftin and Levi Anderson, both of Springfield; two daughters, Jane Loftin of Springfield and Hanna Anderson of Salem; two sisters, Catherine Bermea of San Antonio and Rebecca Ames of Dallas, Texas; and one grandson.Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens.Remembrances to the United Methodist Church, St. Paul Center in Springfield.
