Obituary of Frank M. Allison
It is with great sadness that the family of Frank M. Allison announces his passing on Thursday, March 26, 2020, at the age of 83 years.Frank grew up in the village of Verschoyle, ON where his father was a farmer and cheese maker. He attended Queens University, where he studied engineering and economics. Frank spent 20 years in Sarnia, ON where he worked in the financial industry, taught an investment course at Lambton College, served as a City Counsellor and on many boards (Lambton College, City Planning and the Police Commission). Frank was also known for his athleticism playing baseball, hockey (goalie), golf and curling. He furthered his career in finance in Toronto and later retired in Mississauga. Frank remained active during retirement, serving on the board of his condominium, marshalling at the Granite Ridge Golf Course in Milton and playing bridge and golf with his many friends.He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Jeanette Ann (Knott) Allison; his two daughters Leslie (Allison) Steward, Julie Allison and partner Ray Little; four grandchildren Connor Starkey, Michael Starkey, Mathew Steward and Paul Steward. He will be greatly missed by his siblings Elaine (Allison) Nadalin and husband Chike, David Smith and wife Rosalyn, Dorothy (Smith) Campbell and husband Ken, Bernice (Prouse) Rooke and husband George (deceased), sister-in-law Esther (Barnes) Allison. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.He is predeceased by his grandson Brian Steward (2007), brother Jack Allison (2017), mother Pauline (Pollard) Allison (1942), step-mother Flossie Mae (Smith) Allison (1955) and father Harry Allison (1993).A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at the Glen Oaks Funeral Home, 3164 Ninth Line Oakville as well as in the Mount Elgin area once the social distancing requirements are lifted. Memorial donations in memory of Frank can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.Please leave a message for the family in the online guestbook.
