Obituary of Melvin Hutton

Melvin HuttonA graveside service will be held at noon Thursday, Jan. 3, at Greenwood Cemetery in Leaburg for Melvin F. Hutton of Springfield, who died Dec. 26 of age-related causes. He was 88. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at the funeral home.He was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Ganor, N.D., to Frank and Fern Near Hutton. He married Bertha “Billie” Jones in 1951 in Eugene. She died in 1991.He worked in mills and in the sand and gravel industry before working for more than 34 years in the cemetery business.Survivors include a brother, Ray of Bremerton, Wash.; a sister, Hattie Rouse of Port Orchard, Wash.; and two grandchildren. A stepdaughter, Jessi Lestico, died previously.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to American Heart Association or Arthritis Foundation.
