Obituary of Jeffery W. Rowat
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jeffery Wayne Rowat announce his unexpected passing on Monday March 16, 2020 in his home in Mississauga. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 22 years Laura (Bilyea), and his dear children; his daughters Fiona and Moriah and his son Liam Rowat. He is also deeply missed by his loving parents Larry and Violet Rowat, and his brother Greg. Also his father-in-law John Bilyea, his brother-in-law Stephen Bilyea, his sister-in-law Cathy Gilpin and all their families. He was born in Mississauga in 1970, lived in Bramalea, in Winnipeg and in Orleans, Ontario, before he and his family moved back to Mississauga in 1979. He attended Erindale Secondary, met his future wife there, then went on to Trent University, University of Toronto (twice) and York University. Ultimately, he earned his Master of Education at a ceremony that his children were privileged to attend. All along the way, he gathered friends, mentored colleagues, and was a support and leader in all he did. His life was full of humour, compassion, wisdom, and faith. He will be sorely missed by his fellow teachers and students at the Peel Board of Education, and his beloved Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church family. He had many dear friends, especially Jonathan and Marjorie Sutherland. In light of the recent outbreak of COVID-19, the family has decided to keep the funeral for Jeff private. A memorial service to celebrate his beautiful life will be held later in the spring at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to World Vision (his favourite charity) in Jeff’s honour. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.” - John 14: 1-2
