Obituary of Maria Angelina Alvernaz

Angelina, Avo, Prima, Amiga, Esposa, Tia, Maria, no matter what she was known as or called, Maria Angelina Alvernaz was such a tower of strength, happiness, and joy to us all. Whether she touched you with her loving arms, adorned you with her beautiful smile, or provided you with her tremendous hospitality and love, you would never forget her. She was truly an inspiration for us all because of her resiliency, tenacity and get it done attitude. She came to Canada in the late 60's with three kids in tow and husband Jose Alvernaz determined to make a new life in Oakville Ontario, and boy did she ever. She worked at Design Dynamics for over 22 years, raised her kids, helped her kids get their lives started, then helped raise their kids and gave her grandchildren so much love, attention, and discipline that transformed their lives for years to come. She made her husband Jose a much stronger and gentle person than he already was, she taught her kids and their kids how to love, share and give. There wasn't ever a moment where she would not let you leave her house without sweet bread or if you were one of her grandkids a $5 or $10 bill. She is survived by her loving children, Odilia, Madalena and Clarence, and their spouses Antonio, Manuel and Isabel, her grandchildren Alan, Jennifer, Susan and her spouse Michael, Nelson and his spouse Michelle, Tony and his spouse Patricia, and great-grandkids, Kaeden, Maya, Hudson, Lucas and Gavin, and also brother Jose Vieira and sister Maria Helena, her nieces and nephews Angela, Joe, Maria, Manny, Tony, Manny, and their families, as well as a caring Portuguese and Euro-Canadian community of extended friends and neighbours. We were all their until the very end, she embraced her last moments with the same strength, resiliency, and tenacity she was known for, and we will collectively and continuously adore and cherished you for the rest of our lives. You went in peace and in peace we will find you again one day. We love you Maria Angelina Alvernaz, now and forever.
