Obituary of Maria Santos

Santos, Maria Conceicao (Mota)July 1928 - March 2020Died peacefully, Sunday March 8th, amongst loving family. She joins her husband, Manuel, after a long fought battle with her health. Maria was loved by her children Maria, Angela, Tony, Beverly and Dorothy, her sibling, in laws, grandchildren and great grand children. She will be deeply missed.Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Maria embraced her farming roots when she immigrated to Streetsville. She was passionate about sharing her gifts with family, friends and strangers and had the ability to touch the hearts of all around her. Those who strolled past her garden were gifted with bushels of fresh fruits and vegetables, topped with her favorite flowers, freshly cut Roses and Chrysanthemums. A devote Catholic, Maria found joy in the simple things in life: celebrating God as a member of St. Joseph’s parish, gardening, and raising her children and grand-children. The family wishes to thank all the attendants at Streetsville Care Community for the care and compassion shown. In recognition of International Women’s Day, the day of Maria’s passing, if you wish in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to support women’s health initiatives including: Canadian Women’s Foundation, Women’s Habitat or Breast Cancer Society of Canada.The family will lay Maria to rest in a ceremony at St. Joseph’s Church, 5440 Durie Road, Mississauga on Friday March 13, 2020 @ 10:30am.She leaves us rich with loving memories.
