Obituary of Wayne Charles Brocklebank
With great sadness we announce the death of Wayne Charles Brocklebank, who passed away in the early morning of Saturday the 22nd of February after a spending a month in hospital battling an infection. Wayne had his 70th birthday on January 12th this year, and then, as he said, “things basically fell apart after that”. He retained his sense of humour until the very end.In 1971, Wayne had a motorcycle accident which took away one of his legs but none of his independence. After 11 months in hospital, he spent the rest of his 49 years determined to live absolutely normally, refusing to be defined by his wheelchair. His courage (and humour) in the face of adversity was an inspiration to everyone that knew him. He will be sorely missed.Wayne Brocklebank was born January 12, 1950 in Toronto, to Helen { Karry } and Audry Henry Brocklebank. Wayne is survived by his wife Cathie, his two sons Colin, Sean and their wives Lisa and Anna. As well as four grandchildren, Gryphyn, Tyton, Neva & Isaac. He also leaves his sister JoAnne, his nieces Jennifer & Michelle, his friends, and generations of young Scouts and baseball players he’s mentored since the 1980s.Friends and Family are welcome to gather in Wayne's honor at GLEN OAKS FUNERAL HOME, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville (Ninth Line & Dundas St E) on Saturday , March 7, 2020 from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service in the Chapel at 12 p.m. Reception to follow in the Glen Oaks Lounge.
