Obituary of Barbara Patricia Balthazar

Age 64 of Mississauga, passed away peacefully with family at the Credit Valley Hospital on February 22nd. Formerly of Toronto, she was born in St. Catherine’s, Jamaica on June 15th, 1955. She is survived by Leopold, her husband of 42 years, her daughter Karen, son Shaun, daughter-in law Tonia and granddaughter Tyler.Barbara graduated from George Brown College in 1977 with a degree in Bookkeeping. She started her career in Toronto with The Toronto Dominion Bank where she worked her way up from Teller to Loan Officer. In 1989 she moved to Scotiabank as an Assistant Branch Manager and after working at several branches across the city she moved on to manage the Scotiabank Visa Center. Much loved by her staff and customers, she used the joy of learning to teach self-confidence and the value of teamwork and dedication. She was a lifelong learner who enjoyed teaching as much as learning and helping others.Barbara was a volunteer with the Peel Distress and Crisis Center and the Credit Valley Hospital as well as an enthusiastic gardener who loved sharing the beauty and bounty of her garden with friends and family alike. She was a friend to many and a pillar in the church community. She was loved as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend.The family would like to thank the healthcare professionals at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Center and the Credit Valley Hospital and asks that donations be made in her name to Spectra Helpline (Distress & Crisis Ontario) or the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
