Obituary of Fern West

Fern WestA celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Lakewood Park Clubhouse in Eugene for Fern West of Eugene, who died Jan. 2 of age-related causes. She was 95.She was born May 24, 1916, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Charles and Cordelia Williams Dragoo.She married Carney Phelps in 1938 in Tacoma. He died in 1973. She married Mike West in 1981. He died in 2000.She graduated from high school at 16.She owned a beauty shop in Washington and sold real estate in Portland.Survivors include a daughter, Sabine Dutoit of Eugene; a brother, Bert Dragoo of Olympia; a sister, Carol Cole of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
