Obituary of Adelina Carolina Figuer

Adelina Carolina Figuer passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the age of 85. After many months in hospital, she longed to go back home but unfortunately that was not to be. She was very tired and worn out. The Lord wrapped his loving arms around her and took her to her new home in heaven. There, she feels no pain and is finally at peace. Adelina was predeceased by her loving husband, Giovanni; her parents, Teresa Maria and Giuseppe; her inlaws, Fortunato and Maria Rosina; her younger brothers, Tony and Frank; her sisters-in-law, Rosetta, Carmela, Assunta, Antonetta, Rosaria and Rosina; and her brothers-in-law, Giovanni, Tony and Alfonzo; as well as many other cousins, aunts and extended family. Adelina will be sadly missed by her children, Mary and Frank, and her loving son-in-law, Mark, as well as her sisters, Ida (the late Giovanni), Ines (Nick) and Emilia (Tony); her younger brother, John (Silvana); and her sister-in-law, Lucrezia (the late Frank); and her brother-in-law, Frank (Gina); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. She was born in the town of Domanico, in the province of Cosenza, Italy and fell in love with Giovanni. They were married by proxy on December 12, 1954 at San Giovanni Battista Parish in Italy. The next year, she travelled from Italy to Canada by ship across the ocean to build a life with her husband Giovanni. They soon welcomed a daughter and then a son into their family. Over the years, Adelina and Giovanni sponsored family members to come to Canada. She wanted nothing more than to have her family all around her and she was never happier than when she was surrounded by family members at annual picnics, birthday celebrations, dinners, bbqs, and Christmas parties. Family and food were very important to her and she loved to bake, cook and entertain. In her lifetime, Adelina was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, wife, mother, sister-in-law, aunt and godmother to many beloved nieces and nephews. She valued friendship, peace and harmony. Adelina was a kind and warm person who touched the lives of those who knew and loved her. She will be sorely missed. The earth has lost an angel. We will always love you, remember you and cherish the memories.
