Obituary of Michael Melanek

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Michael at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre on February 15, 2020. Beloved husband of Mary (Radecki, predeceased). He was a loving father and will be missed by his three children, Anne (Ike) Chrest of North Bay; Mary (Wally) Desmond of Mississauga and Mike (Elaine) of Dartmouth, NS. Loving grandfather to Amanda (Greig) Morrison of North Bay; Jennifer (Andrew) Brooke of Ottawa; Miranda Vye of Spruce Grove, AB; Laura Melanek of Ottawa and Melissa Melanek of Dartmouth, NS. Great grandfather (Didi) to Clara Morrison and Nikolai Jablonski. He would have been thrilled to meet Jackson Brooke, born Feb 17th. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020, from 11:00 am-12:00 pm at Lynett Funeral Home, 3299 Dundas St W. This will be followed by a private graveside service at Glendale Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's memory may be made to the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre, 60 Richview Rd Toronto M9A 5E4, www.stdemetrius.ca; or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre for the compassionate care Michael received during his time there.
