Obituary of Brij Bhushan Pathak

Brij B. Pathak passed away unexpectedly at his home in Richmond Hill on February 10, 2020 at the grand age of 90. Brij is survived by Abhilash, his loving wife of 62 years, his sons Anoop Roy (Renu) and Sumesh Paul (Pooja), his grandchildren Jayashree and Janak, and his sisters Krishna and Usha. He will also be dearly missed by many other generations of family across the globe. Brij will always be remembered for his warmth, infectious sense of humour, loving personality, readiness to help others, and sense of style. A self-made man, Brij moved from India to England in the 1950’s where he was a favorite at American Express, solving problems for clients and lifting the spirits of fellow staff. He enjoyed this role for many years, treating Haymarket, near Piccadilly Circus, as his person fiefdom. He then moved on to Canada with his family in the early seventies where he had a very successful career in the real estate world, passing on his entrepreneurial spirit to his sons and grandchildren. Whether it was a badminton match at a local court or the dance floor at the Hammersmith Palais in London, he was multi-talented with a zeal for all things fun. The world truly was his oyster. Brij would always be the first one on the poker table and last one on the dance floor, leaving a lasting impression on everyone that he met. Brij was never satisfied until everyone in the room had a drink in their hand, food (which he often made himself) in their belly and a smile on their face. He lived his life, as he would like to be remembered, full of joy, with the greatest joy being that which he brought to other people. A funeral service and celebration of his life will be held at Highland Funeral Home – Markham Chapel, 10 Cachet Woods Ct, Markham on Saturday February 15, 2020 beginning at 1:00pm. A cremation service, for family members will follow.
