Obituary of Gabriele De Santis

GABRIELE DeSANTIS November 4,1932 - February 11, 2020After battling a lengthy illness, Gabriele passed away at Etobicoke hospital at the age of 87. He was surrounded by his loving family. Gabriele is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Loreta, who shared with him many years of immense love, laughter and unwavering commitment. He is also survived and much loved by his children Mario, Tony & Susie, daughter-in-law Deveka, son-in-law Mathieu, Cherished grandfather of his beloved grandchildren Stephanie, Melanie, Angelina and Gabriele. Born in Chieti, Italy, Gabriele immigrated to Canada to make a new life. He was a tireless worker who, along with Loreta built a home that was open to all. Gabriele was quick to laugh, was always looking to make others comfortable and was at his happiest in the garden and especially when surrounded by his family. He was proud of his backyard garden, loved the outdoors, and was known for his beautiful flowers and homemade wine. Gabriele will be lovingly remembered as someone who took care of his family, asked for little in return and filled the lives of those who knew him with laughter and joy. Visitation will take place at the Glendale Funeral Home (1810 Albion Road at Hwy 27, Etobicoke. (416-679-1803) on Friday February 21, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 9 p.m. The Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday February 22 at 10:00 a.m., at the Glendale Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment to follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens. If desired to send floral arrangements in memory of Gabriele, he had a simple request to send potted plants (if possible) which could be planted in his family’s gardens.
