Obituary of Mary Edna Kidd
MARY EDNA KIDD (born THOMPSON)Our mother Mary (she was always full of grace) departed this world on Sunday afternoon February 2, 2020 in her 99th year, to be with her husband Mac. She passed on in the company of her children at the Waterford Retirement residence in Barrie, Ontario. She was predeceased on February 15, 2010 by her husband of 61 years Gordon McLean Kidd (Mac) and she missed him dearly. She was a wonderful caring mother, a confidante and a source of support and encouragement for her six children Don (Barb), Kate (Demetre, deceased), Charles, Barb (Clyde), Jean (Jay) and Ken (Andrea). She was a loving lap to crawl onto with comforting arms and love for her thirteen grandchildren Dan, Kirsten, Jon, Joanna, Sarah, Ashley, Aiysha, Jamie, Jess, Ben, Logan, Cameron and Ryan. She was so pleased to be a great grandmother to six great grandchildren Conor, Henry, Thomas, Elliana, Bernice and Sloane. She was looking forward to a seventh from Sarah and Julian this spring.Mary was born, raised and lived most of her life in Woodbridge. She was an excellent student and loved to read throughout her life. She was certainly passionate about and committed to her family. She was always interested in and cared deeply about her brothers John and Phil, their families and the many Kidds in Mac’s family. But family was not her only interest in life. She was also involved in many community activities. She gave of her time in many volunteer jobs over the years. She worked at the local library, hospital, meals on wheels and the pennywise store. The Anglican Church in Woodbridge (just down the road from the home of her parents Alf and Vera and where she first met Mac) was also a central part of her life in Woodbridge. She was involved in the church in many ways. At various times she was organist, choir member and the first female warden. She loved music in all its forms. She would sing or dance anytime. She was an accomplished pianist. She also loved clothes and being well dressed. She was never adverse to getting a new outfit while engaging in a bit of retail therapy. Her spirit will live on in all of the great and warm memories we have of her. She left her kids a note that said “when I am gone don’t be sad, think of all the wonderful times we’ve had together at home and at the cottage. You and your father made my life a happy one”.A celebration of her life and all that she has contributed to and left for us will be held at Christ Church Anglican in Woodbridge on Friday, February 7,2020 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers Mary asked that her memory be honoured by donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. All of the family wish to thank the staff and caregivers at the Waterford Residence for their constant help, respect and compassion during her final health challenge.
