Obituary of Raeburn MacDougall
On Sunday, February 2, 2020 Raeburn Drummond MacDougall, at the age of 75, passed into the presence of his Lord. Loving husband to Lillian and devoted father of Raeburn and Beth Anne. Raeburn was born in Talara, Peru on April 30th, 1944. At a young age, Raeburn moved with his family to Miami, Florida where he lived until moving to Eastern Canada to attend University. While studying Marine Microbiology at Memorial university, he met and fell in love with Lillian Barbour. After beginning their married life in St. John’s, NL, Raeburn and Lillian moved to Dunrobin, Ontario where Raeburn enjoyed a successful career with Health Canada. Throughout the years, Raeburn guided the family with godly wisdom. Raeburn always enjoyed being close to nature in his red canoe and his lifelong passion was photography. After retirement, Raeburn began woodworking. His photographs and wood pens are appreciated and admired by many. At the age of 25, Raeburn accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Saviour. For many years he was an esteemed Elder of the assembly that meets at the North River Road Gospel Hall. Raeburn was preceded in death by his father, Raeburn, and mother, Wilhelmina. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lillian, his two children Raeburn (Giang) MacDougall & Beth Anne(John) Bell, four grandchildren, his two sisters Sheila (Jim) Byrd and Marnie (Pat) Paquette and many nephews and nieces. We thank God for Raeburn’s love, wisdom, kindness and creativity. He has been a blessing in many lives and will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Capital Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive, Nepean, on Friday, February 7th from 4 - 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, February 8th at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be followed by a reception. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice Care Ottawa would be appreciated by the family.
