Obituary of Dominic Sui Tat Yan 忻瑞達

Dominic Sui-Tat Yan, aged 69, succumbed to cancer on January 27, 2020, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with the disease. Despite his illness, he remained positive and strong until the end. He was born on October 21, 1950 in Ningbo, China and was the sixth of eight children. Dominic and his family moved from Ningbo to Hong Kong when he was three where he grew up and spent almost 20 years, before moving to Canada and settling here. He loved the open space, changing seasons and North American sports.In 1977, he married Agatha Sheung Min Fan in Waterloo and together had two children – Victoria Wai-Che Yan and Clara Wai-Kwun Yan. Survivors include his wife Agatha; daughters Clara, Victoria and her husband Danny; future granddaughter, due April 2020; three sisters Yan Shui Kee, Yan Pui Ha (Mimi), Yan Pui Fong (Erika); one brother Yan Sui Lau (Francis); as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents Yan Shun Yee and See Mee Far; one sister Yan Shui Ha (Anita) and two brothers Yan Shui Yuen and Sing Sui Yuen.If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dominic can be made at the following: charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/in-loving-memory-of-dominic-yan-and-his-fight
